Bastien Prizant Optometry -
Top Eye Care in the Sandy Hill Area
Proud to be serving the eye care needs of the Ottawa community for over 100 years
Bastien has been a trusted name in Ottawa eye care since 1913. When the jeweler R.J. Bastien started manufacturing eyeglass frames at his first location on Dalhousie Street, he recognized customer service as the most important factor of his business – a sentiment that remains a priority over a century later at Bastien Prizant Optometry.
With a patient base that spans multiple generations, the clinic is an essential fixture with deep roots in the Ottawa community. We also treat patients from Parliament Hill and Ottawa Byward Market.
Digital retinal imaging by Optomap, state of the art pre-testing instrumentation, is included in every comprehensive eye exam. The Optomap provides for a no – drops, holistic eye exam.

Q&A with Drs. Bastien and Prizant
Q: How do I know if I have Dry Eye?
A: Dry eye can cause quite a few symptoms, anything from the eyes actually feeling dry to the eyes watering often, or having a burning, itchy, or irritated feeling. One of the most common symptoms is the eyes feeling gritty or like something is in your eye. Most people will often experience blurred vision since the tears, which comprise the outermost surface of the eye, are unstable.
Every contact counts!
You may now bring in your old contact lenses into our office for recycling. Just drop them off in the bin in our waiting room.
